Analyzing La Roche Jeanneret reveals a virtual framework of two intersecting planar axis from which the façade surfaces push and pull. Façade deviations from the original axis planes establish a balanced composition of shifting surfaces and initiate entry into the off center atrium space.

By manipulating the façade surface and hinging the building at the intersection of the axis planes, the atrium emerges as a shifted central void from which surface manipulations guide an inwardly focused promenade into and out of the voids bracketed by carved out solid spaces.
